WHAT IS IT?
Breast augmentation, also known as mammoplasty, is a surgery performed to increase the size of the breasts. It involves placing breast implants under the breast tissue or chest muscles. For some women, breast augmentation is a way to improve their confidence. For others, it is part of breast reconstruction due to various diseases.
HOW IT IS PERFORMED?
Basically the position of the prosthesis can be in front of or behind the pectoralis major muscle. Dr Piletti will always place the prosthesis behind the muscle. The route of placement of breast prostheses is basically classified according to the area of access.
Sutures
The sutures are made around the nipple so that they are as less visible as possible after healing and the stitches are removed after 10 days.
Bandage
The incisions will be covered with bandages that apply gentle pressure to minimize swelling and bruising.
Pain
This operation is not painful, only a small percentage of patients experience slight pain.
Bruising
It occurs when there is accumulated blood. In some cases, a second operation may be necessary to remove it completely.
Results
Breast augmentation changes the size and shape of the breasts. Surgery helps improve your body image and your self-esteem.
